Ardenia Capannelli is from Ascoli Piceno, Italy (about 100 miles northeast of Rome) where in 1987, she completed a three year program called "Corso Restauratori d'Arte" designed to instruct members in art conservation and restoration. Teachers of her program were graduates of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence - one of the most important laboratories in Europe. The methods of conservation and restoration taught by this school simultaneously emphasize preservation of the object through the use of appropriate materials and methods as well as restoration of the damaged portions. In 1988 she started her art restoration career by working on paintings from the 15th through the 19th century for the Museum of Ascoli Piceno as well as private parties. The following year she moved to Newport Beach, California and continued her career working for local firms restoring antiques, paintings, sculptures, porcelain and ceramics. In 1995, she opened the Ardenia Capannelli Conservation and Restoration Studio, and continues there today serving a wide variety of clients in the art industry. |
